The Tigers, 2006 ALCS Champions, bring lots of people to spring training.

We got to see the Tigs play at this amazing park.

I think it is now called George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Apparently we saw a night game, which I do not remember.
At all.

spring is almost here.

Friday morning I fly to TPA. My parents are already in Florida and will pick me up from the airport and whisk me away to Dunedin Stadium (last year it was called Knology Park. Truthfully I don't care what is is called as long as it isn't Detroit City Council) to see the Tigers play the Blue Jays. We will also see the Mets play the Tigers in Lakeland on Saturday and then the Tigers play the Pirates in Bradenton on Sunday.

I am so ready for warm weather and baseball.

This trip will be different than the last 6 years (holy shit I can't believe this will be my 7th trip to spring training!) because my parents will be there and Jesse won't be. My parents are renting a house and they got there today. My mom called a little while ago and told me that there is not wireless at the house. Oh, and there isn't tv.

I was planning on taking my computer with me but perhaps I will leave it at home and pack as many teeny tiny bottles of booze in my carry-on bag as I can. Will the FAA allow that? Or will I have to slam them all before I go through security?

All kidding aside, every year I look forward to this trip and this year is no different. I will miss Jesse. Nothing is as fun without him. But I know it will be awesome to spend time with my parents and share this experience with them. My aunt and uncle are joining us as well and I'm sure we'll have fun.

If you see a post here this weekend, you'll know I ditched them, rented a car and booked myself a hotel room with tv and interwebs access.

Go Tigers!

happy belated valentine's day.

I am romantic. And I am not romantic. I love getting flowers and notes and mushy stuff like that. But at the same time, I hate that kind of thing.

Jesse is awesome about bringing me flowers when I am sad or having a bad day. And sometimes he writes really sweet notes that are not mushy at all, yet totally make me melt (and no, they aren't dirty). Jesse surprises me every year for valentine's day with a membership to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. A couple weeks ago I received a call from the hall of fame to verify my mailing address. Apparently my membership card and pin had been returned to them saying the address was undeliverable. Thank you, Detroit mail! Not only did the hall of fame have to pay additional postage to send it to the exact same address a second time, the surprise was completely ruined.

We exchanged gifts on Saturday before ordering pizza for dinner, and no, it wasn't that creepy heart-shaped pizza. Unfortunately, this year I wasn't surprised to open the envelope from the hall of fame. But I think Jesse was surprised to open the little deep fryer I bought for him!! We tried to make onion rings but it didn't work out so well. Last night Jesse made some very tasty fried brie. I am looking forward to many yummy fried foods in our future. And a big belly.

So romantic!
