things that make me hate the world.

  • I don't even know what to say about this one.
  • If I see this car on the street I might have to do something destructive. Right after I get up from off the ground where I landed after laughing off my ass.
  • Cobo Hall. Actually, I don't have anything against Cobo Hall. I, like most Detroiters, have not even been to Cobo Hall in a looong time. Wait. I lied. I "volunteered" at an event held there a few months ago. And I don't know that I really volunteered because my supervisor pretty much said we all had to sign up to volunteer. Anyway. Cobo Hall. I'm ready to stop talking about it. Hearing about it. Reading about it. Writing about it. Thinking about it. Let's just tear it down. And while we're at it, let's take down the rest of Tiger Stadium, too.
It must be a good day because right now, I only have three things on my list! Feel free to email me anything you think I might hate. The more messed up, the better.

pillowtalk

"I'm really not into little orange men."

"Thanks, baby. I didn't think so. Who was the governor she was talking about?"

"With the last name and amazing hair? I'm assuming she meant Blagojevich."

"Oh. All I could think of was Schwarzenegger."

"Because you're always thinking of Schwarzenegger."

"True."

sometimes.

Sometimes you just aren't ready to get out of bed when the alarm starts screaming at you.

Sometimes you think, "I should get out of bed now so I have time to make lunch to take to work."

Sometimes you hit snooze 3 more times and there is barely time to take a shower before going to work.

Sometimes you are standing at the bathroom sink sticking contacts on your eyeballs when you notice a notecard sitting on the sink.

Sometimes your heart feels all mushy and in love because your husband left the sweetest love note for you to read.

Sometimes the love note is all about how he made you a sandwich and it is in the fridge.

Sometimes I am amazed at how happy this man makes me.

showers.

Jen: What are you up to?
Amanda: I'm trying to finish making baby shower invitations. The printer ran out of ink or something.
J: Ooo that sounds like fun.
A: I hate showers, they are just all about consumerism and buying shit. I really hate bridal showers. It's like they just invite you to make you feel bad that you're not married. Or getting married. "Look at me! I'm getting married. You're not!"
J: Really?
A: Yes. I haven't been invited to one bridal shower since I got married. But before that, I went to a bunch and they all sucked. I mean, have you gone to one shower since you got married?
J: Yes. One. Yours.
A: Showers aren't so bad.

spring training 2009

Friday February 27, 2009
Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Dunedin Stadium, Dunedin, FL
4-6

I didn't really care that the Tigers lost. I left Detroit at 7:15 a.m. It was 50 degrees but the temp was steadily dropping. By the time the game started at 1:05 p.m., the announcer dude said it was in the 30s in Detroit. It was sunny and hot in Dunedin. If I had balls, I would have sweated them off at the game.

Before the game my aunt and uncle ran into someone they know and introduced me to him. When we got to our seats, my uncle pointed to the name on the jersey of the guy sitting in front of us. It was the name of the dude I just met, Pat Hentgen. I shook hands with a Cy Young winner and didn't even realize it. Doh! Note to self: hang out with Uncle Larry more often, he knows everyone.

New York Mets vs. Detroit Tigers
Joker Marchant Stadium, Lakeland, FL
2-7

This was a really fun game to watch. It was a really windy day and several Tigers hit home runs to beat the Mets. We also got our first look at Ordonez and Cabrera. Bonderman was supposed to pitch but was pulled due to soreness or something. So we got to see Jon Kibler pitch.

During the game they announced the winner of free pizza row. I couldn't believe it when they called out my mom's ticket. Yay! We got free Little Caesar's pizza. I gave mine to a guy sitting behind me.

Sunday March 1, 2009
Detroit Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
McKechnie Field, Bradenton, FL
4-6

This game was definitely disappointing. The Tigers were actually winning until Zach Miner came in and did his best WTF Todd Jones impression. I know, it is just spring training and I'd rather he get his Todd Jones moves out of the way before the season begins. It was still a bummer. I was also frustrated because it was cold out there! And not just cold for Florida. It was barely 60 degrees, super windy and not very sunny. My parents have some pretty funny photos of us freezing our asses off. I'll try to steal some and post them here. I didn't take many photos during the game, probably because I couldn't stop shaking.

Justin Verlander started the game. I thought he looked good, no major problems. We got to see Craig Monroe play for the Pirates as a non-roster invitee. It's always fun to see ex-Tigers and I wish them all well. Except for Kyle Farnsworth. I think he's an idiot. But his red neck while he pile drives a player from the opposing team into the ground makes me laugh so I guess maybe I wish him well.
