I decided I need to try to write about stuff other than baseball. I'm pretty sure I'm failing. It's not my fault. Doesn't everyone want to know what I think about baseball? Stop reading then, jerk.
Gary Sheffield. I will miss him. People don't like him because they think he is a dick. Oh, and because he didn't play so well last year. When I saw him at spring training I thought he looked okay. But then when I saw his stats, I realized I only saw him play in 2 games, or was it 3, and I was just happy to see him, no matter what he did, and he sucked during spring training.
Here's the thing about spring training. I love spring training. I go to Florida to watch spring training games in person. However, I don't really care about the outcome of spring training games. Sure, it is exciting to see the Tigers win. And it's frustrating if they suck. Unless something spectacular happens, I think most people forget spring training ever happened once the regular season begins. I just think spring training games are important for reasons other than winning and losing. It would be interesting to see if there is any correlation between spring training season record and regular season record. My guess is there isn't. Last weekend I was sharing my viewpoint with my cousin and he said, "That makes sense. The Lions were 4-0 for last year's exhibition games."
Back to Gary. I enjoyed watching him play baseball. I feel like he is a really smart player who doesn't make a lot of mistakes. When he isn't beating up players from the other team, he seems to be a good guy. I am pretty sure I haven't read or heard anything about him not getting along with his teammates or being a prima donna in the clubhouse.
I definitely have love in my heart for Thames. But really people. He's no Gary.
